Your life’s work deserves protection. A Last Will and Testament is the only legal way to ensure your assets are distributed according to your wishes.
At Notary Lawyer Scarborough, we provide more than just signatures. Because we are licensed lawyers, we can draft a comprehensive legal Will for you. Alternatively, if you have already written your own Will, we can help you finalize it with the mandatory Affidavit of Execution.
Note: This affidavit must be commissioned by a Commissioner of Oaths or Notary Public to be valid in court.
Services start at just $30.
Ideally, you should never rely on a “fill-in-the-blank” kit for something this important. Instead, let our legal team draft a custom Will that addresses your specific needs.
Our Basic Will Package Includes:
Naming the person who will manage your estate.
Clear instructions on who gets your property, savings, and sentimental items.
Appointing a trusted guardian for your minor children.
Setting up simple trusts for children under 18 or 25.
Cannot Visit Us? If you are hospitalized or homebound, we offer a compassionate Mobile Notary Service to draft and sign these documents at your bedside.
Frequently, clients ask us: “Can you notarize my Will?” The short answer is: You do not notarize the Will itself; you notarize the Affidavit of Execution attached to it.
Why do you need this? In Ontario, for a Will to go through probate (the court process after death), the court requires proof that the Will was signed correctly.
Learn More: Read the official guide on applying for probate from the Ontario government.
Our Role: We commission this affidavit for you instantly if you bring your witnesses to our office.
Unfortunately, many clients only think about their Will during a medical emergency. Therefore, we offer a compassionate Mobile Notary service for urgent situations.
We regularly visit:
Scarborough General Hospital & Centenary Hospital.
Long-term care facilities and nursing homes.
Private residences for seniors with mobility issues.
Note: For a Will to be valid, the person signing (the Testator) must have the mental capacity to understand what they are doing. We will conduct a brief capacity assessment during the visit.
No. In Ontario, Wills are not filed with the government while you are alive. You should keep the original in a safe place. However, your executor may need Certified True Copies of the Will or the Death Certificate later to deal with banks and assets.
No. Only a Lawyer can legally draft a Will for you. Since we are Notary Lawyers, we can handle both the drafting and the Notarization Services required for the affidavits.
